How to wear shorts?
- Cressida Meale
Music festivals are one of those rare chances to embrace the ungainly, relish in the revolting and frolic in the downright frivolous. During this period of time spent in a large expanse of grassy ground (sometimes sand, often mud) there are a few things you are bound to encounter: novelty sunglasses, nudity, public relieving of oneself (you or others), overpriced beverages and dodgy food. All these charming inclusions aside, there are also a few rules to abide by - here wonderfully illustrated by a few shots from Coachella 2013.
Be Nice To People
This nice young chap is someone we want to be friends with. This is important at large social gatherings. You could say it's almost imperative. How many free drinks do you think this T-Shirt resulted in? We're going with approximately 16.
Look Hot A
There is an abundance of opportunities to look seven kinds of batsh*t cray at any event with plenty of alcohol, dirt and music - but let's eschew sunstroke and silliness in favour of a bit of sartorial prowess shall we? Channel Chanel (Iman) and pair your distressed denims with a bit of '90s powerhouse dressing. Sexy is a 24/7 kind of thing after all.
...street. Obviously. It makes economic sense if nothing else. Yes, the Isabel Marant is tres adorable, but will it still be so with a plethora of ubiquitous stains forming a nice melee amongst the prairie girl print? Just think about it.
Embrace your inner Goddess
Be it Janis, Stevie or Debbie - there is a smorgasbord of musical femme fatales to step into character with when fully immersed on such an escapist weekender. Fringe it, tear it, belt it and above all - brim with bravado.
Just Don't Be This Girl
