- If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times: one does not simply become a fashion designer when one wishes. Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio’s ears are clearly stuffed with lingerie lace, as she announced the launch of her own fashion and lifestyle brand, Alé, this week.
"This is not a hobby for me. I've been a fashion model for 15 years and designing is just an extension of my career," Alessandra told WWD. Love, just because you wear the clothes – not that she wears much – doesn’t mean you have the talent to design them. Otherwise, we’d all be at it.
Alé will debut in Spring 2014 (giving Alessandra plenty of time to perfect her creative talent) and is in collaboration with the US retailer Cherokee. Unlike the many thousand dollar Victoria Secret catwalk outfits Alessandra is usually pictured in, the Alé range will be ‘accessibly priced’. Yet however low the price, the collection doesn’t sound particularly lust-worthy: ‘fringed waistcoats, floaty mini dresses and denim separates.’ Boho circa 2004, anyone?
Jewellery, accessories, swimwear and fragrance are in the pipeline if the new venture is successful, though perhaps Alessandra should focus her creative talents on the clothes, before she ventures too far from the catwalk.
Both feature half naked muscly men with tattoos, but… David Beckham. We like to keep you up-to-date with nude Becks’ whereabouts, and last year we told you how he was caught in his undies by an LA tour bus, while filming the H&M ad. It seems the incident was all part of the stunt, and the tour bus features at the end of the video. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the short is a fashion ad masterpiece, and not just because we get to see what Victoria sees every morning.
Without spoiling it for you, the ad sees David lose his dressing gown as it catches in a car door, and he gives chase, as you would. The best bit? The LA-style Mr Darcy scene. Enjoy, ladies.
